Now owned by Kraft Heinz, the Grey Poupon brand dates back to 1866. Originally from Dijon, France, its first packaging was a simple stoneware jar with blue hand-painted type. Over time, brands can become diluted by good intentions - claims, awards, and drop shadows. Sometimes it just takes a little respect and care to return a brand to its intended state.
Above all, this was a restoration project. Today’s glass jar is the same shape as the original stoneware and the type retains a hand-rendered imperfection. The logo has been simplified and strengthened, extraneous graphics have been removed, and the product varieties are easy to identify.
This little jar of mustard is now all set for the next 150 years.
